Southern Cross Certified Australia - Organic Certification Sevices

Today, there are many Sustainable Production Standards that a farmer or grazier can be certified to. Further down the supply chain, Processors, Manufacturers, Wholesale, Retail outlets all need to be educated as to the benefits of these Standards. At Southern Cross Certified Australia (SXC), we can assist you in identifying which of these Standards is best for you and your operation.

At SXC, we have amassed in excess of 56 years of organic certification experience, however we are not just organic certifiers. While organic certification is our speciality certification, we consider ourselves to be Sustainability Certifiers.

AS 6000 - Organic and biodynamic products

Australia’s Domestic Organic Standard. Certification to AS6000 does not allow you to export your product. In fact, no product, either in part or in full, that is certified to AS6000, can be in an exported product. It is purely for sale within Australia and must be sold direct to consumer.

The National Standard for Organic & Biodynamic Produce

Australia’s Export Organic Standard. Certification to the National Standard (NS) allows you to sell product in any market within Australia and into all Non Regulated Markets outside Australia. This is by far, the most popular organic certification in Australia.

USDA NOP Regulations

As the United States of America is a regulated market for organics, all product being sent to the US as organic must be certified to the USDA NOP regulations. Click here if you are interested in finding out more about the USDA NOP regulations.

EU Organic Standards

The EU is also a regulated market. As there is an Australian - EU recognition in effect for some commodities, you may need only to be certified to the National Standard for Organic & Biodynamic Produce. However, depending on your situation, you may also need to be certified specifically to an EU standard. Contact SXC using the details at the bottom of this page to find out more.

SXC Certified Regenerative

The Certified Regenerative Standard was created to fill the actual or perceived gaps in the current organic standards. The current standards only provide a framework for organic production that occurs above ground. No organic Standard addresses the basic issues of soil health, soil nutrition or soil organic carbon levels that occur below the surface. The SXC Certified Regenerative standard aims to enhance soil health and the soils biological cycles, as well as maintaining or improving the fertility and biological function of soils.
