Certification Process

Step 1 - Apply For Certification

The first thing you need to do is register for an SXC account. This should only take you about 2 minutes. Once you have an account, you should read about our fees up front, and have a read of our page "Things you may need for your Application".

Please note that SXC only offers certification services to English speaking operators.

When you're ready to go, begin your online application.

Step 2 - Application Assessment

Once you have submitted your application and paid the application fee, the SXC team will assess the information you provided. In some cases, we may need to ask you for more information. We review your application to ensure that certain minimum requirements are met before we organise an On-site audit.

Step 3 - On-site Audit

After the assessment of your application, we will ask one of our experienced auditors to arrange a suitable time for an on-site audit with you.

Once arranged, SXC will send you some information on how you can prepare for the audit. The more prepared you are, the less time the auditor will need to spend on site, and the lower the audit costs.

For a well prepared, smaller operation, the audit will generally take between 2 and 3 hours. The auditor will need to tour your operation to assess how it meets the requirements of the standard you have applied for. The auditor will also need to have a look at your record keeping practices.

Step 4 - Certification Decision & Certificate

Based on the application and the on-site audit, SXC will make a decision on certification. If we grant your certification, we will ask you to sign a certification agreement (which specifies the requirements around the use of our certification mark as well as other items such as confidentiality) and ask you to pay the certification fee. Once paid, we will issue you with a certificate.

And from there...

Ongoing Annual Audits

Every year, we will schedule and arrange an On-site audit with you to ensure your operation is still meeting the requirements of the standard.

After your “In-Conversion” period, you will be able to claim “fully” certified status on the products you sell to your customers. Click here for more information on In-Conversion.

Additions / Changes to your Certification

You can apply to SXC at any time to have additional products added to your certificate. This process is quick and simple and can be done via your SXC on-line account. Click here if you already have an account.
